Making a decision?

Updated: Feb 7, 2022

It may sometimes come as a surprise that one can rely on prayer when decision-making. (By prayer, I mean the recognition of our oneness with God, or tuning into God, Love.) For some, prayer may mean many different things... Meditation, reflection, quiet time, or deep-thinking. For the purpose of this blog, let's call it prayer, although a lot of those things can relate. There is more on prayer in the textbook on spiritual healing, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. For this evening, I'd love to focus on the quote below, from that very book!

As we can see, it is God, Love that leads the way. That leads us to wonder... So are we really the one to make the decision, then? God is all-knowing. Although God doesn't know what seems to be the appearance of material things, God does know that which is spiritual; Ideas and their utility. Some often ask, How do I know when and how Love is leading me? We know we are making the right decision when it doesn't feel forced. We know we made the right decision, when we feel at peace about it. We can turn to this Love in prayer in the bigger and smaller decisions. We learn in geometry that the fastest way from point A to point B is a straight line. So, in our own experience with all our decisions, we can go straight to God. In my experience, this has brought clarity and has stopped me from potentially making a mistake or going around in circles.

Not only that, but we don't have to pray to make a solution happen. We pray to know that Love is unfolding the situation already. With Love, the solution/the answer is already there. When this is applied in prayer, our perspective shifts and we therefore witness this unfolding in our experience. I love this audio chat on decision making. So, if you're making a decision... You can rest assured that Love is already on the case. Inspiring, illumining, designating, and leading the way. Have a great evening,

Elaina
